How The Budget Bit Makes Money

The Budget Bit earns affiliate commissions when you open an account or sign up for a product through some of our links. This never changes our rankings, our ratings, or what we recommend. We include products that don’t pay us when they’re the right answer, and we tell you when a product we could earn from isn’t right for you. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full details.

How We Evaluate Products

We are data-first. Every recommendation is built on four things:

  • Real math. We model the actual dollar outcome — what a rate pays after fees and rate cuts, what a fee costs you net of the credits you’ll really use — rather than repeating a headline number.
  • Primary sources. Rates, terms, and fees come from the provider’s official disclosures, not from other blogs. Because these change, we tell you to verify the current figure with the provider before you act.
  • Durability over hype. We weight the things that matter over the years you’ll actually hold a product — rate stability, fee structure, real usability — above whatever teaser number happens to be highest this week.
  • Honest verdicts. Every review states who a product is not for. A recommendation that fits everyone fits no one.

Who Writes This

The Budget Bit is written and edited by Rick Grantham, who spent over a decade in business intelligence and data analytics — building financial models, dashboards, and reporting systems — before founding the site to bring that same data-first rigor to personal finance. Every article carries a byline.

Accuracy and Corrections

Personal-finance details change constantly. We date-sensitive content and update it as terms move, and every article reminds you to confirm current rates and terms directly with the provider. If you find something inaccurate, contact us — we’ll correct it and note the change.

Our Promise

We will never recommend a product because it pays us more. We will always tell you the trade-offs. And we will always show our math.
